SAMPURNA TRAINING AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME – or STEP in short, is a social microfinance organization located at 222/18, MC Garden Road, Kolkata 700030, West Bengal. STEP was incorporated as not-for-profit company in September 2010 registered under section 25 of The Company Act 1956. STEP originally started its activity in 2007 under the name of Navnirman Community Resource Centre (NCRC). NCRC was a social microfinance organization based in Mumbai. NCRC extend its support to start the microfinance project in West Bengal in 2007. It was decided that a dedicated separate entity in West Bengal will be registered STEP name and the new organization STEP will acquire all the activity in west Bengal. In January 2011, the STEP formally started its wide range of socio-economic services including family counselling, social awareness and business management training, business counselling etc to uplift the socio economic conditions of vulnerable people at slums of Kolkata and Howrah. In January 2014, STEP took over the microfinance program of NCRC along with the management staffs and field officers. Since the beginning STEP is receiving financial and technical support from a French organization called, Entrepreneurs du Monde (EdM) specialized in Social Microfinance.
